We're on the move May 29

On Wednesday morning we heading out of KS. We spend 14 days there and we had 12 days of no rain at all. We had two afternoon/evenings of showers but no strong weather so our time in KS was great. We made our way to MO the first day. Now I thought we'd head north through NE and IA but this was Reids' time to plan and since we're not really planning and our goal is MI on June 1 he thought this way was best. (anything to keep us from towing near Chicago is fine with me) We stayed at a nice rv park about an hour west of St. Louis called Lazy Days Campground. It was just for over night but it would have been ok if we'd wanted to stay longer. It was nicely laid out and the scenery was pretty. On Thurs we drove into IL and IN. We'd talked about stopping near Indy but that's where the rv parks were limited. We kept watching for signs but really didn't see anything..(It's like you see several the first hour you're traveling but as it's getting closer to time to stop you can't find any) Our goal for the weekend was Shipshewana so we decide it would be a long day but we went for it. We arrived about 7 last night. We like this area and it's a good place to spend the weekend. We're heading into our membership park in Mi on Monday for two weeks. That park is very nice and shady but still open enough for our internet and tv to work. We enjoy it there. Today it was lunch at Das Essenhaus, an Amish restaurant that we like when we're in town.
Right now it's fixing to rain (Reid not happy) and it's cooled down a lot. The forcast said on Thur that this weekend here was going to be mid 70's and sunny for three days and that's not happening..oh well we should be use to the weather being wrong my now. later

Two years and counting May 25

Two years ago today we took it on the road. What a fast fun two years. My job ended on May 24th and we were ready to leave town the next morning. We actually started living in the rv full time in Mar 07 while we were getting the house emptied to sell but hung around TN till my job ended. We've seen a lot of nice places but it's the friends we've met that's been so special.
We've had a nice quiet weekend. This park only had a couple other rv'ers show up for the holiday weekend so it was pretty nice. The weather called for storms today but we only had one quick shower to pass through this morning and that was it.
We grilled ribs out yesterday. We've never had much luck grilling ribs before but Jean and Tim (fellow RV'ers) told us how they do them and we thought we'd give it a try. They turned out so good. We couldn't believe how tender they were. (look out Famous Dave's)
Lady didn't sleep well last night, she kept jumping up, running to the living room, barking and growling. This went on several times. She was sure something was outside, I'm figuring a critter of some kind. I never heard or saw anything but she was sure something was out of place, she never reacts that way. She just kept doing it so in her mind she was protecting us from something. Our little protector.
She's sleeping right now but will probally go on guard duty just as I'm going to bed.

Kansas still May 24

Yes we're still in Kansas. The weather has been just beautiful. We thought we'd hang out here for a few days and watch how the weather was doing and 11 days later it's still great. I never expected it to be this pretty, sunny, warm and dry but it has been. As it got closer to the end of the month and the holiday weekend we decided we were going to stay right here till after Memorial Day.. It's hard to find parks empty for a holiday weekend. We haven't really done much the past several days. We've done our groc shopping and hit a couple of restaurants. Yes we finally got in our Famous Dave visit. We love their ribs and we all know there's no FD near us in So Texas so we have to wait till we're on the road to find one. So last Thurs we planned a late lunch early supper and "pigged out" on ribs. On Tues we had to go back into town to get something done at walmart and we'd seen a lot of Mexican restaurants in this town so we thought we'd give one of them a try. Now everyone knows with the exception of San Antonio and La Mesilla we haven't found what we consider good mexican food. So of the three restaurants we saw we decided on Carlos O'Kelly and it was terrific. We were both very happy with our choices and the taste were delicious. I even bought a pint salsa it was so good.
Reid had been able to golf a lot over the past couple of weeks and I've been Keeping up with my walking, reading and watching tv.
We've decided not to head into WI., the RV parks seem to be really limited and we know we're leaving here on Wed but that's all I know for now. I'll have to see which way Reid points the rig on Wed morning.

We're here May 13

But where's here..Kansas..you ask why...We planned to leave AR this morning and stop in Okla City for the night. But then it appeared that they might have a good chance of storms, some severe, so around noon we decided we'd keep going north of Okla City and head into Kansas. We'd stayed at this RV park before about 12 miles north of Wichita and we really liked it so we thought we'd stop here for a few days (weather depending.) This park is not busy and we found it by accident last time we were here. It's no frills and quiet, grassy, level..
The weather has been good. Sunny, breezy (ok windy at times) but still nice, There were some storms to the north of us and east but nothing going on where we're at.
We don't know how long we'll be here. We're waiting for it to warm up farther north so for now we'll watch the weather and try to chase the sun

Where are we now May 12

Jacks up, antenna's down, we're off. We traveled this morning on I-40 (a road we've taken many times) This part of 40 is rough and needs fixing and they did have some of it under construction but only is small area. We did drive through a shower (we expected it so Reid was ok with it) As we got started this morning all we knew was we needed a walmart for groc and might have to stay at one tonight..we'd gotten into AR and a walmart truck passed us and we both said at the same time "follow that truck" (sometimes I wonder if we spend too much time together) LOL we drove on and on and a big 18 wheeler passed us and it had Biggest and Baddest Tour written on it with a big picture of Toby Keith and I said "follow that truck" we didn't, but we did find a walmart so I could get my groceries. By this time we've been on the road for about 5 hrs (with a one hour stop to get groceries) and we decided to stop for the night..We found a KOA west of Little Rock and pulled in there for the night. It's a KOA so it's so-so and it had lots of trees but Reid was able to get a site with a break in the trees so we could get tv reception (Braves play here). First day on the road with no schedule went fine.. Now we'll see where tomorrow takes us.

Now where to...May 11

Ok, Rally is over...still some rain...what to do, what to do...We've been sitting around for the past few days trying to decide where to go next..I pretty much planned the first 2 months of our travels when we left TX cause I wanted to take our time and see the kids, see the coast, met up with friends. so that was the plan.. Reid was planning this leg of the trip and orginally he wanted to go to KS, NE and end up in Wi but he stratched that idea several weeks ago..Then it was time to leave the Southeast and all the spring rain we've been in the last 7 or so weeks and we didn't know which directions to go..It's still cool in Wi and MI by our standards. (night time temps in the 40's isn't for us) there's rain in the forcast still so after carefully watching the weather channel and the internet the last couple of days Reid decided that we'd head west on I-40 and go from there. So for the first time in our two years of traveling we have no plan. We're taking a page out of George and Wilma's book and just going..(this is hard for me cause I plan my day just when I'm staying inside the rv all day long how am I going to let go of control of a schedule.)
stay tune to our unscheduled trip..

Rally time. May 4-8

We headed to Natchez Trace State Park on Sunday for our annual spring Everest Rally. We've been meeting here for 3 years now with pretty much the same group..We had 11 rigs at this years rally with 2 of them being newbies.. (first time Everest rally attendees.) we've had a great time meeting the new ones and catching up with our other friends. We did miss some of our friends that were not able to attend due to being across country and couldn't make it and we sure did missed them. This week started off with wet. We've had a lot of rain the past 7 or 8 days but today was beautiful and dry.. can't say what the rest of the weekend will bring. the guys were so happy to see the sun that 5 of them went to play golf and one went fishing. Some others did some sightseeing.
On Tues we had our meet and greet cookout, then last night it was the pot luck followed by our Chili cookoff tonight. We always eat well at these rallies. We had a camp fire on Tues night and we tried to have one last night, it would stop raining and we'd gather then the rain would start again and we'd go in, then the rain would stop and we'd try again so I finally gave up but some of the die hards squeezed under an aweing and tried to keep the party going even during the rain. I don't know what time they finally gave up and called it a night. Tonight was too warm for a fire but we were able to sit outside in our circle and talk and laugh and laugh and talk..The rally offically ends tomorrow with several leaving and heading toward Michigan. Some are leaving on Sat and we're leaving on Sunday. We've had a great week and will be seeing most of them again in Aug at our Homecoming Everest Rally in IN. We've truly met some great friends in this group.

Visit back home Apri 27

We spent a week visiting our Moms back in Middle Tennessee this past week. We arrived on Sunday afternoon and got all set up. We went back to a campground that we'd used several years ago when the kids were young and it worked out real well. We had all the hook ups we needed and could still get TV and internet. We have finally found a workable place to stay when we visit "home". I got to see My niece, Jennifer, her three kids and Larry her husband on Monday. Mom and I had lunch with then and we had a great time. She's actually Reid's niece by blood but she's been mine since she was 7 so that counts. right. On Tues I visited my Mom and then had lunch with my BFF from my working days. We always have fun. Jennifer needed a babysitter on Wed so I went with Mom to "play" with the baby while she did the "babysitting" duties, we then took the kids to lunch once Kate (9 mos) finished her nap..After lunch I was wanting a nap. Thur Reid had a dr apt. It was his yearly stress test so he went for his 2 hr apt I went shopping.. I didn't want to stress out during his test so I went to shopping therapy. I had lunch with my sister on Friday, she and I always go out for Chinese when we're together.
On Sat I saw my niece Jessica, hadn't seen her since her wedding, it was fun catching up with her. That's my busy week. Loved every minute of it. More to come on our next stop.
