Merry Christmas

I've said that dozens of times today.. It brings a smile to my face.
We had a great lunch on the patio and the girls are quietly playing with their new toys and chew bones. The weather is 85 degrees and sunny and that's wonderful.....but the front is headed our way and will be here early in the morning. Tomorrow will be almost 30 degrees cooler than today.
So far this winter is better than the last three years as far as warner temps and sunshine.. and we like that.
Steph worked yesterday and is sleeping today. we talked last night for a while.. She thought last night that her heat might be going out, hope that's not the case.
Danny texted me earlier.. he didn't have any plans today but he's got ball tournaments this week.
That's all so I'll say it again Merry Christmas.

Dec 2012

Where did Dec go.. I really thought I had posted this month but it looks like I haven't..the weather has been beautiful since Thanksgiving so I guess I just got busy and didn't blog anything..
Now Christmas is just days away and we're enjoying some Christmas activities.. Last Friday we had our Christmas pot luck at the rec ctr with some games, great food and Christmas Carols. Tonight was our park golf park parade which I love to do but once again I have a head cold/allergy thing going on and I'm not feeling great, so instead of riding in the parade I stayed at the house and waved at them as they went by..
We had a cool front pass through this week with a couple of days of strong wind and gust and then the temps dropped.. My allergies started bothering me when the wind started on Wed and then the sneezing and stuffy head. I hope it's over soon.
Molly is playing with her toys and having a great time with them while Lady is sitting here looking at me growling so she much want to go out (but she just came inside)
so Merry Christmas everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving

Hey I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.. I'm thankful that the sun has popped out today even if it's only for a little while. I'm thankful for family and friends and even when we aren't close to you we're never really far away.
We're  going out for our dinner tomorrow since most of our friends aren't back yet..  A lot of people are heading back to the valley later this season it seems.
My fruit didn't produce too well this year.. My tangerines are a bust but at least I'm getting some oranges and grapefruit even though they are small they are still sweet.
We've had some strange weather.. warn but the sun want come out and stay out.. We've had mostly clouds for well over a week. At least it's calm and warm.
Hoping to get in some day trips the next couple of weeks.. We want to go to Don West Flea Market and to the Island.. We'll try and pick a day that's warm, sunny and calm.. but getting all three is hard to do..

Nov is here

It's Nov.. The park has gotten busier. More people are showing up each day.
College Basketball is starting.. Go Duke..Go Lady Vols..
I must tell you that we rebounded nicely in our weather since last post.. We've had mid to high 80's for the past week and it's been sunny with a nice breeze.. I did hear from Reid that a cool down is coming on Tues with highs only in the 60's hopefully it will be sunny and calm so it wont be to bad.. We know Reid is watching for any long term bad weather patterns.
This is the first week of activities for the park and I've had meetings, a luncheon, a breakfast, checked out line dancing at the park next door, hosted a hotdog and chili cookout and it's only Thurs.
I enjoy it so much though.. Doing a little walking and biking too.. My knee has been hurting some so I don't want to over do it so I rotate the biking and walking.
 That's it for today

this can't be happening again

When we first starting coming to the valley about 5-6 yrs ago I remember nice Oct and Nov's with some transitional winter weather in Dec then Jan/Feb being nicer but the last couple of years the cold fronts have started arriving earlier and it's miserable.. I don't like cold weather and anything under 70 is cold to me.. We'll it's 52 this morning and I don't like it. We come this far south for warm weather not cold windy drizzle..
No this isn't Reid on my blog it's Debbie...and I'm cold.
We've been in the 90's all week (I can handle the 90's just not the humidity) but yesterday the front moved in and the temps started dropping.. We dropped 20 degrees in 2-3 hrs and then it kept dropping throughout the night.. It's not just the temp either the wind is howling (like you'd hear in Jan with a raging snow storm) It's cloudy (probably wont see the sun at all today) for now it's not raining so that's a good thing I guess. I tried to walk but it was just to miserable with all that blowing wind. We aint staying all winter if this trend continues.. We can't have any fun in this weather we might as well not be here.
Enough venting: I have crock pot full of beef stew so I have supper already cooking.. I've got some taped shows that I will get to watch today (around any football that I might wont to watch) so I will make the best of today..
In a couple of days the sun will be back out and the temps back to the 80's and this weekend will be a memory.. Check back to see how our weather goes.

Monday

It's a sunny Monday morning. Not to windy so that's good. Molly and I have already walked the block.. she's was drooping by the time we got back.. her tongue was dragging.. she's not use to humidity.. it's only in the low 70's but that blasted humidity wore her out.. She really needed a walk cause she was running circles around the RV (before 8am) she's napping now.
I have to go drop off my thyroid medicine bottle for refill today and We're going to head to McAllen for lunch at Jason's Deli.. Thought about it yesterday then decide not a good thing to do on a Sunday.. That's another CON for here...going out to eat on the weekend is not possible.. it's too crowded and restautants have a long waiting list.. (I know for a fact that Cracker Barrel can have a three hour wait on weekends)

The park isn't busy yet.. Several arrived this past week and more are expected this coming week. The bulk of our activities will begin on Nov 1. I have plenty to keep me busy till then with straightening and organizing the two places.

Leisure Valley

We're here. 6 days on the road and we're here now. We arrived about 1ish and backed the RV in and went to lunch.. We knew the rest of the afternoon would be filled with unpacking the casita and getting the golf cart ready.. Reid's pacing himself and that's probably all we'll get done..
Molly is trying to break out of the RV door so she must be tired of RV life already. Lady is napping.

Karen, Bob, Lea, Dan and Jan have stopped so I've already been visiting.

I was checking out the rec center earlier and there's things already posted to do so I'll need to get signed  up for them

Almost there

We arrived in San Antonio yesterday about 1pm. We're staying at Alamo Fiesta.. We've stayed here several times before. It's north of the city and we're only staying one night.

Once we got set up it was off to Sea Island Shimp House..This place is wonderful. We don't find a lot of good local Mom and Pop seafood places away from the coast but we found this place last year and went back there for lunch. I guess they are close enough to the coast to get fresh seafood. It was very tasty.. We had enough left over that I have another meal of leftovers.

Today we're up early and heading through San Antonio hopefully before rush hour but if the interstate sounds are any indication we're too late. This is our last leg of this trip. We should arrive in Mission and our park this afternoon. The girls are ready for some days off of traveling (me included.)

Molly is wanting to play and Reid is trying to work so I'll close.

Another Traveling day

We headed out around 8 this morning. We didn't want to hit rush hour in El Paso.. We just want to buzz through that town.. it's not one of the safest places (listen to me we live on the border all winter)
The girls have traveled so well this week. You expect it with Lady cause she's just that good.. but we didn't know how Molly would do out of her crate (we still used the crate with her on our summer trip)but she's done really great.. Last night Molly climbed up on the bed and fell asleep long before I tried to make her lay down.. I was so surprised but she slept there the rest of the night. Right now she and Lady are sleeping side by side in the kitchen.. Traveling really tires them out which is funny cause they sleep most of the time we're on the road.

We made reservations at all our parks for this trip except here cause you usually don't need a reservation and they never answer the phone with you call.. When we pulled in it was really full but we tried to check in anyway but the sign on the door in small print said "we're full" So we headed to the other RV park (there's only two or three in this area) and lucky for us it had a few openings.. We'd stayed here before and the office worker was really rude so we'd been going to the other one but it looks like it's all permanents now instead of RV'ers..

Once we got set up we headed out to eat. We found a place called K'Bob's Steak house.. We tried it and it was good. They had a full salad bar plus steaks, burgers, chicken and seafood.  I tried the smothered chicken and salad and Reid had steak and fries..

Tomorrow it's off to San Antonio and we're having supper at Sea Island. Yeah... it's the closest place we've found to our Alabama favorite Shrimp Basket.

Las Cruses, NM

This is the second time I'm typed this (before google new updates it would automatically save stuff so you didn't lose anything but not since the updates.. so everything I'd typed (three paragraphs) is lost.. so here goes again. I hope I remember to type a word then save it..

We left Apache Junction and headed south (I think) anyway it was toward Tucson.. We didn't plan to stop in Tucson this trip so we kept going till we got to Las Cruses.. It was a long travel day but in order to stop here it was necessary.. Our favorite Mexican Restaurant of all time is here.. it's called La Posta and they have the best Sour Cream Chichen Enchalida's I've ever had.

We arrived here around four (hit a time zone so we lost an hr) and once we got set up and the girls settled we headed over to Mesilla for an early supper. The food was as good as ever.
The rest of the night was spend chillin and watching TV..I didn't sleep that well cause Molly didn't sleep as good as she had been doing but it wasn't too bad either.  She only wakes up when we do (we need potty breaks too) and most of the time she settles back down pretty quickly but only after a trip outside.. (don't what her the have any accidents on my bed).. By the time I get both the girls taken out and back inside it's been 20 minutes so you can see why I never sleep straight through the night. Once they were up at 7 and they'd been walked, treated and fed I went back to bed and Molly came too.. It was surprising to me that she napped again with me.. We slept till 10. I needed it.

We're going to La Posta again for a late lunch and then to Walmart for some Pepsi and Sundrop. It's an easy trip cause I can see the Walmart sign from my window..

Tomorrow we leave for Fort Stockton for an overnight..Then in to San Antonio for a couple of days.

Apache Junction, AZ

We arrived in AJ about 11 this morning and we had another good travel day.. We left Kingman and it was a cool, very cool but when we arrived here it was mid 90's so I was loving it.. I was actually too warm this afternoon as we were sitting outside visiting.
Nancy and Bob headed over to our place about 1pm and we visited for a while and they played with the girls (they also brought toys for the girls, ) Molly loved hers but didn't quiet understand that Lady's squirrel wasn't hers too.. We all know that Molly hasn't learnt the fine art of sharing yet.

We headed over to Garcia's Mexican Restaurant for a late lunch. Bob and Nancy had eaten there before and thought it was good so we wanted to try it too and we both agreed it was good. I went with the Sour Cream Chicken Enchalida's.. that's my favorite...

We came back to the RV park after we ate and visited a while longer with Nancy and Bob.. We have an early day tomorrow cause we're going about 400 miles (yes in one day).. If we get to Las Cruses earlier enough we're going to our all time favorite Mexican Restaurant called La Postas. We don't get good mexican food in south Texas so we have to get it on the way there.

Travel day one

Today's travel day went great. We left Pahrump about 9:15 this morning and drove around the mountain instead of going over the mountain. The grade is steep so Reid wanted to try going around.. it was a little longer but worth it.. It was pretty scenery too so it was good to try another route.
We arrived in Kingman around 1:00 and after lunch at the Iron Skillet (yes a truck stop) we got set up and our campsite.. We actually had to pull out our sweatshirts tonight and that's too cold for me.

Tomorrow we head to Apache Junction, AZ.. That will be another overnight stop.. We're going to check out Garcia's Mexican Restaurant with Nancy and Bob tomorrow..

Last night was Molly's first night to sleep outside the crate or closed laundry room. She slept at the foot of our bed and did so for only about four hours but it's a start and we're hoping she'll get better each day.

Leaving NV on Saturday

It's time to head to TX.. We're all packed and we're leaving here in the morning.  A cold front moved through yesterday and it's been raining and cooler than normal. The mountains have snow on them. Sounds like a good time to leave but it's going to warm back up by early next week.
Lady knows the routine and has been excited the last few days waiting to get on the road.. Molly has no clue what's going on. We've been moving into the RV all day and I think we're done.. Lady is napping and Molly is exploring.
We're going to Kingman, AZ tomorrow for an overnight and then stopping in Apache Junction on Sunday for another overnight stop.. Nancy and Bob are in Mesa so we'll be seeing them while we're there.
I'll be updating this week as we travel toward Mission.. Stay tuned

Happy Anniversary Reid

Happy anniversary Reid.. it's been a fun ride.. The last 31 years (all of my adult life) have been wonderful. Here's looking forward to another 31+ years. I love you..
We drove into town today and went to Sam's to get Reid's meds. We also stopped by The Butcher shop for some steaks and then to Lazy Joe's Fish and Chips..  I was hoping for more from the seafood place but it wasn't to be.. the shrimp was ok but the scallops were not done.. Everything was fried and I try not to eat a lot of fried food. Reid had the fish and he thought it could have cooked a little longer too. It was set up fast food style where you place your order at the counter and they bring it out when it's done.. It was pricy for fast food but I"m glad we tried something new.. Now I don't have to go back there again.

Getting ready to start packing up the rig.. we'll be leaving here on Oct 13th heading toward Texas..
I'm ready to get back in the swing of things in Leisure..

In case you missed it on facebook today...Molly ran away today..but I ran after her.. Steph has just arrived and I was outside walking Molly.. she was happy to see Steph and jumping up on her
so we were heading back to the door and I took Molly on her lease expecting her to head on in the house like she'd done dozens of times before..Well this time she starts running by Reids truck and she just kept going.. down the drive way and out the open gate.. I'm running along behind her screaming her name at the top of my lungs and she's just running.. I started saying "Bad" "Bad Molly" and she stopped at the driveway down the street from us.. she just laid down in the driveway and waitied for me.. For some reason she's always stopped doing whatever she was doing wrong when I've said "bad"
so it's my go to word now and it worked when it needed too today..
Believe me it was a lot more stressful for me than Molly.. it was a game to her..

Happy Birthday to me

It was a very happy birthday.. but then all of them have been. Reid decided to take me to Vegas. We really wanted seafood (we're so missing The Shrimp Basket in Gulf Shores AL) but the place he found was closed on Sunday so we ended up at a buffet. They are fine and usually have a lot of choices but it was Brunch and I usually want either breakfast or lunch but not both so I stuck with the lunch portion.. They always want to service you champange and I don't drink that stuff anytime I sure don't want it for breakfast..

The girls and I are taking it easy this morning. Reid took my car in to town to get the tow thing put on so I took a three mile walk earlier and I guess I'll get a few groceries today.. Gotta figure out what to fix for supper first..

We're going to be leaving here around mid Oct so I'll need to start getting everything organized for the trip. That will keep me busy a few hrs each day.. Most of the stuff that has to be put back in the RV can't be done till closer to time to leave.

I can't believe how quiet the girls are.. one is napping (you can guess which one) and the other is playing with a chew bone. If Reid was here trying to work they would be barking at every sound known to man.

We'll be taking the same route back to TX so I don't expect any special outings other than hitting a couple of our favorite restaurants along the way back.

Our weather is still very warm.. We're getting to the high 90's to 100's still most days but I can still feel the fall in the air.. The heat (it's a dry heat) isn't as stiffling as it was and the evenings are cooling down nicely.

Fall is in the air

It's it really, who knows for sure.. But what I do know is once the sun went down yesterday the evening cooled off to a comfortable 77 degrees and that hasn't happened in weeks.. This morning when I got up or better yet when Molly woke me up it was a wonderful 57 degrees..(I don't like it any colder than about 55)  This is the time last year that the mornings and evening get real comfortable outside.. The days are still heating up to the 90's (it's the desert after all) but I love the trade off with the evenings and mornings.

We're going to be leaving for the winter in about 6 weeks. My park activities pick up Nov 1st and I do like to be there on "opening day". We'll take about a week to 10 days to get there and be ready for Nov. I have missed the gang so much and will enjoy getting back into my routine with golf, line dancing and biking.

Molly has a whole new world waiting for her in TX.. She'll get introduced to Lady's golf cart and our walks around the block.. She'll also enjoy being back in the RV where she can sit on the dash and watch people go by.

This was labor day weekend but we didn't do much.. Just sat around the house watching TV.. Steph worked all weekend and she'll also work tomorrow.. She wont mind working tomorrow since it's double time and a half..

We'll probably take a trip into town this week to shop and find a place to eat out.. We are so limited here in Pahrump with restaurants.. Only a few chains to chose from.

Reid and the girls are doing fine.. Reid takes advantage of the pool every evening and if the girls aren't sleeping, eating or barking they aren't having fun.

Happy Birthday Danny

Have a Wonderful, Happy, Beautiful 30th birthday.. It's so hard to believe my guy is 30 today..
Where has the time gone.. I remember in vivid detail the day he was born (I guess all Mom's do)
He's in TN and I don't believe he's got any plans for his birthday (just like his Dad) but I hope he makes it special..

What's everyone up to

Us.. Nothing...really nothing.. We made a trip into Vegas last week for some steaks. Reid found a meat market so we thought we'd try it.. They were very good steaks.. We grilled them out on Friday evening..Steph came by after work to eat with us. The trip wouldn't be complete without lunch at In and Out.. It was Delicious.

Reid has been spending the evenings in the pool. I get in it some times but I get motion sickness when I get in it. I've started taking dramamine before I get in it and it has helped.. I never thought I'd get motion sick in a pool but something about the water moving really messes me up.

I spend most days at the gym..I've been going to some classes so some days I'm there couple hrs or longer..It's too hot to spend it outside. I do go walking each evening just as the sun goes behind the mountains.. I'm up to two miles at a time which is great. The girls are going too. I'm slowly working up there time so when we get to Leisure they will be able to go around the block with me.. Molly can now but Lady needs to walk off a few pounds

Steph and I went shopping on Thurs.. She needed new clothes.. We went to Kohl's and then to Applebee's for lunch.. She was treating and her favorite place is Applebee's not mine...I call it awfulbee's. (just for fun). It makes for a good days trip to go into town and have lunch and get back to Pahrump..

The girls are doing great. I think I've overtrained Molly.. she sees me pick up her chain and she goes to the door and squats. I want her to wait till we're outside the door.. We're working on that.. this is something she's only recently started doing..Lady has her routine and she doesn't like to miss any nap time.

You're all caught up on our busy life.. Blog later.

My new ride

This will probably come as a surprise but guess what.....we sold our Challengers.. Yes, that's right.. Having two wasn't practical and I need a car that I don't have to baby so much.. I need to be able to haul around my girls in the back seat (they didn't fit in the Challenger) and I don't want to be scared to drive it.. Everytime I got in the Challenger I was so afraid someone would hit me. And let me tell you people tried.. they'd drive right at me or pull up beside me and want to race. It was awful..  We never needed three autos and one of the cars stayed in the garage all the time so it was a fairly easy decision to make. I was ok with Reid keeping his but it was more practical to trade them both and only have two autos while we're still on the road. The truck stays in NV and gets driven alot cause every guy needs a truck,  right Reid.
It was also hard for anyone else to ride with me cause the backseat was so hard to get in and out of.. I like to drive when I go places with my friends cause I get so motion sick so now I have room for at least three other friends and possible four.
One big issue turned out to be the tow trailer.. The cars couldn't be flat towed so we were always trying to get the longest site possible and a lot of time that just didn't happen so we'd have trouble with finding a place to park the the trailer in various RV parks..
I really enjoyed my Jeep that I had before we got the Challengers and I'm finding things I like about the Jeep that I didn't like about the Challenger so it's all good.
I'm not saying Reid will never have a Challenger again he probably will but right now while we still want to travel it's best not to have one..

Danny's visit

Had a wonderful time with Danny.. It was just too short of a visit.. But he's got his life in TN so I'm happy for the few days we had together.. He starts back to school next week so he needed to get home..Here he is in Red Rock Canyon. He's looking off in the distance and squinting cause of the sun.
Here's another view of the canyon.. It's really pretty to drive through and see this view.
We haven't done much this week. Steph is in the process of looking at houses to rent.. she believes she's found the one she likes and once she decides I'll get pics posted of it..
it's really nice for the price.

It's now August

**I will explain why everything was posted at the same time...that's because half the time I try to blog it wont let me so I have to save everything and hope it will post the next time I try.

Aug will be another hot month but Reid is ready for it. We decided that we have plenty of patio space so we got this for our warm evenings.. I was hoping to do water aerobics in it but I don't believe it's deep enough but that wont stop me from trying. It should be plenty big for us to just sit around in it..We just got it sat up on Thursday and filled about 7pm but Reid still had to check it out last night..it was still pretty cool but after 100+ temps today it will be nice and warm later tonight. If we find that we do spend a lot of time in it we might upgrade in a few yrs.. (I'll never get him on the road if that happens)
Danny's very short visit will be over tomorrow and we don't have anymore company expected till later in Sept.. (Nancy and Bob bring your swimming suits)
Steph is in the process of looking for apt/houses to rent..She's trying to get moved in somewhere around Sept 1st.

The girls are doing great.. Molly is in to everything and Lady avoids her as much as she can but they do get along and when it's treat time they sit side by side waiting on there treats

Happy Birthday Stephanie

First Happy Birthday Stephanie..
hope this is a wonderful year for you,

Danny's here

Danny arrived on Tues for a short visit.. He starts back at school on the 16th so he flew out for a few days.. Having a great visit with him, I just wish it could be a longer visit. Oh well I'll take what I can get.
We picked him up in Vegas on Tues then drove around the city looking at the couple of houses that we lived in when he was a kid.. I must say the neighbourhoods have gone down hill the past 22 yrs. He was almost 8 when we moved back to TN so he remembers more about living here than Steph does. Then we headed out to the race track that we spent alot of time at where they were growing up and it's reall changed since we raced on it.. Now it has pro races both drag and round track.. Then we headed over to the M resort for lunch..
After that it was time to head back to Pahrump so he could finally met his newest sibling Molly.. She greating him with barks and growls and tail wagging and licks. she's in love with Danny. Lady was dancing all around wanting to get him too but Molly was right there getting all the petting.
We had breakfast out one day and we're going to head to Blue Diamond in a few minutes for a trip to In and Out.. he has got to try it while he's here.. He's a big fan of 5 Guys so it will be interesting to see which he likes better...Steph likes 5 Guys better (why I really don't know)
Danny and Reid will head back to the airport at around 3am tomorrow and he'll get back home about 4pm. I miss him just thinking about it.

Not alot to talk about

You guys know when we're not moving around I'm limited as to what there is to talk about but since I'm never at a loss for words I'll give it a shot..
We've been back in town for a couple of weeks now and it's just like the rest of the country.. hot..we actually had a couple of pop up thunderstorms Sun and Mon afternoons.. the front moved in, our temps when from 100's to the 60's and 70's, the wind picked up, the rains flooded the roads...this all lasted about 15 minutes then the sun pops back out the humidity rises and it was worse afterwards than before the storm blew in.. The last couple of days has been better with the lower humidity levels.
We drove into Vegas on Tues to go to the mall and have lunch.. I needed the jewerly department and would you believe the Penney's that I had mapped out was a home store only meaning furniture but no jewerly department so now I have to make another trip to another location.. I wasn't sure how to get there on Monday and Steph was with me and she was ready to get back home so we didn't try and find it...This is when I need someone to run around with who likes to go shopping...any takers..
I spent last weekend going through the storage containers we brought back from TN and getting that stuff organized and put away this weekend I'll be getting Danny's room ready.. he's arriving in town on Tues so that will be a fun week for me.
I wanted to add a pic so I choose these two. Everyone knows Lady.. she saw a statue that we have of a black cocker spaniel (Molly) on the colum on the patio.. it's been there for several days but she just saw it last night and she wanted it.. not sure if she thought it was Molly or just liked it better cause it doesn't bother her.

The second pic is Molly trying to climb a tree.. We were in NE and she ran out of the RV straight to this tree.. she was fixed on it and as I scanned higher I saw why!!!there was a squirrel up there.. She never saw it but she smelled it..

See no one can ever say I don't have the gift of gab..

Back in NV

What a week.. We left MI last Sunday for IN and some work to be done on the RV and a week later we're back in the house in NV..We never go anywhere that fast and don't really like traveling that fast but everywhere we were planning on going was going to be hit by another heatwave and we decided not to hang around for that.. It's just to hot and miserable. The inside temp in the MH is about 90 with two A/C running if the outside temp is 100 so that's to hot for anyone.

We did travel through a couple of new states for us.. IA and NE so that was fun.. I enjoyed the cornfields and before you ask yes I was awake for a lot of it.. We pulled some pretty good mountains coming into UT. Above is a picture of us driving through Virgin River Gorge between St George UT and then north west corner of AZ

This one is of the dirty river, they'd had rain recently so I'm guessing that's what made it sooooo muddy.

This one shows how the road curves through the mountain. you can see a truck in front of us then more road winding around the next hill. It was neat.
(bet you wish I didn't know how to do pic's now don't you,.)
I'll try to keep up with what's going on here but we want be doing any traveling till Oct/Nov but we have family and friends visiting so I'll be updating about that.. of course there'll be pic's for the girls..

What's Molly doing

I took Molly out earlier and she started sniffing and walked over to the tree then looked up. She went all the way around the tree and she really wanted to climb it.. She'd never done this before but she was real interested in this tree.. I heard something and looked up and there was a squirrel looking down at us/her.. she'd "treed" her first squirrel and she didn't even see it.

Traveling west this week

We've been in Nebraska for a couple of days and we'll be going farther west in the morning.. We're in Lincoln NE now.. We found a Carlos O'Kelly's mexican restaurant yesterday. We had found this chain a few yrs back when we were in KS so we wanted to try it again.. It was wonderful.. I tried the Sancho Especial with chichen.. It was great.. I wish I'd gotten another order to go.. (it was that good)

The weather has been good for the first few days on this trip but we're heading back into the heatwave with 100 degree temps again. Don't expect to find any relief now till fall (lol)

Good news the fridge is working great and the A/C at the house is fixed so that's really great news.

Fridge is fixed

I'm happy to report that the new fridge is in the RV and cooling wonderfully. They said they had another half day of work to do on it but after checking to see what was still needed it was only a little cosmetic work and we didn't want to hang around another day for that so we had them to put a couple of panels back on and we were ready to leave. Since we weren't having more work done the girls didn't have to go back to the day care (or jail) as Reid called it.. Lady really didn't enjoy the experience..

We left IN around 10am and headed west. We are traveling I-80 for the first time so we're seeing some new things. I've never been to IA before but I think it looks like TN..(corn fields and barns)

We stopped at Iowa City for the night in a small RV park.. It's a nice little shady park. I walked a mile earlier and I had to circle the RV about 12 times to get a mile in so that shows you how small a park it is.. Tomorrow we're heading on our way and will be stopping in NE for a couple of days..NE is also a new state for me..

Pup's day out

Today was the day the girls headed to the kennel. I hated it but it had to be done.. The rig was inside the shop all day with no air so it was the best thing for the them although Lady didn't think so. The workers said that she actually did better with Molly than without her.. I knew she loved her..

The new fridge is installed and cooling down now.. actually it's already cooler than the one we took out and it's only going to get cooler. They have some touch up work to do but that's all that's left although they said it would be take half a day to finish and I said "that's because they charge by the hour" any way they will get started in the morning and the girls will go back for one more day.. We're leaving on Wed heading to IA..

Elkhart IN

We arrived in Elkhart today and it's been a pleasant day. The temps haven't been as high as the past several days and there's a very comfortable breeze blowing..
We're at the RV repair place for the night and hopefully they will start to work on our RV first thing in the morning.. (The guy parked near us said he was told to be here last Monday and he's still waiting for work to begin, we're just hoping it was because of the holiday that they had him wait..) If they do get started tomorrow it will be a long day for us.. the girls are going to the puppy daycare and I'll have to find things to amuse myself.. (I haven't seen a mall around here)
Steph called today to let us know the AC at the house is OUT.. what's next.. it's only going to be between 106-112 the next few days for her..

feeling the heat

I'm from Middle Tenn and lived in South GA for 5 yrs and I'm going to say that the heat we've experienced these past two weeks have been some of the hottest I've ever seen. I've been told that this area has been about 23 degrees above average.. Did you know that the heat wave is cooling down tomorrow with highs only in the mid 80's and the evenings in the 50's WOW...the day we're leaving town the heat wave breaks.. Does anyone want to say that Reid brought this heat wave to MI.. We have been asked real nicely to hurry up and leave.

In spite of the heat we had a good time last night with our friends. We grilled out hotdogs with Peggy and Jimmy and Bob and Nancy. It's a small world isn't it.. We've bought into this membership park about 5 yrs ago cause we'd be spending time in this area and it is Bob and Nancy's park too. We met Peggy and Jimmy in Texas through her brother, Larry a couple years ago. We had no idea that they lived only about 10 miles for our park so it was fun seeing some of our TX friends this summer.  We also saw Rita and Dan this trip too.

We waited till about 10:20 for the fire works to begin and once they did Molly wasn't the least bit impressed.. she went crazy.. she was on a leash but she was running trying to get away for the noise and so scared that it was sad. I grabbed her up as soon as I could catch her and we headed inside to finish watching but she was still so nervous.. She wanted to sit beside my legs slightly under them but she didn't want to be held.. lucky for us the "show" didn't last long and once the noise stopped she was ok.. Lady sat outside with Reid and quietly watched them all.. In Molly's defense it was her first fireworks so hopefully it will get better next year.

Tomorrow we're heading back to Elkhart. We have an apt to get the fridge replaced. We don't know how long we'll be there but hoping it's only a couple of days..From there we're heading to NV.. It's too hot to be in the RV all summer when we have a house in NV (although once we head back the headwave will end!!!!) Not sure where we're going on our trip back but I believe it might be some new states for us.. So I'll be keeping you informed on the travels..

Danny is coming to visit the end of July so that will give me something to look forward to.

What! another pic of the girls

I still remember how to add a picture.. too cool.. Lady is wondering why Molly likes to sit beside her so much.. I think Molly just likes to be where the camera is.

We're going to be leaving MI on Sunday..This heatwave is getting to us. Why does MI have a heatwave everytime we come here..

Since it's been so hot all over the country we've decided to just head back toward NV. It might be hot there but the humidity is usually very low.. We have to stop in Elkhart IN for a couple of days to get our fridge replaced then we'll head on our way.. Not sure which route we'll take yet, we'd talked about UT and CO but we're watching the fires out in UT, CO and WY and will try to stay where the air quality is good. High altitude and  fires wouldn't make breathing easy for Reid.
I'll keep you posted on where we're going.

The girls

Molly is looking down cause she dropped her toy.. it was a ball.. she couldn't believe she got all the way on the dash of the RV only to drop her ball..

Lady posing for me on one of our travel days..

(I need to write down how I did this cause I want remember next time I want to send a pic) which will probably be later today when the girls get back from their Doggie day spa..

The lake

Oh my gosh... I got this  picture on my blog and I'm not sure how I did it. but if I can figure it out I might be able to put important pictures on my blog without having to involve Reid..
Pic's of my girls, that's about all I have..
I'm going to try another one..

Waldenwoods in MI

Once we left IN our next stop is Waldenwoods in Hartland, MI. Waldenwoods is a membership park that we stay in when we're in MI.. We'll be here thru the July 4th weekend. We're having fireworks on July 6th and I'm not sure why they aren't doing them on July 4th.. So odd..

We arrived about 2 Sunday afternoon and got set up fast so we could head to Novi and Famous Dave's for supper.. We have several friends from Mission, TX that live in this area so we met with Rita and Dan and Peggy and Jimmy. It was good to catch up with them.. Rita and Dan were leaving today heading north for the summer so last night was the only chance to see them.. We had a great time catching up with them..

When we got back to the RV our friends in the site beside us invited us over to met some family of theres so we visited a while and had pie (Yes pie purchased in Shipshewana.. I mentioned the pie earlier..it's that good)

We're going to be in this area for 2 weeks and we're playing it by ear as to what we'll be doing while we're here..

The girls are having a spa day today and I'm going shopping with Peggy tomorrow. Besides that I hope to get in a lot of walking. There's a beautiful lake here that I can walk around. Reid has informed me that the high here on Thurs will be near the 100 mark so we're not looking forward to that.. It rare when they have a heat wave here but Reid's here so we can expect hot, humid and rain.

What a week

I'll sum up our week at Shipshewana: plenty of fun, hot, busy, hot, plenty of food  and hot.. that's about it. We all had a wonderful time seeing each other and hanging out around the empty fire pit (there was a burn ban so no fires but who needs a fire when it's 95 degrees). Our nightly entertainment was Molly and Randy playing with each other while Lady looked on..
Randy is a german shepard that is so mild mannered.. he's wonderful with other animals. He let Molly trample all over him..

We had to check out the local restaurants.. We always go to Das Essenhaus so we headed over there on Monday. It was good and we all had fun.. We also tried a new place called Blue Gate and we (Reid and I) thought it was better this time than Das.. They also serve family style just like Das but we just thought the food was so much better.. This place even had bread pudding and it's my favorite dessert.. Although the Butterscotch pie was wonderful too.. (did not have two desserts the same day.)

Tues we hung out at the Flea market.. We found a couple of pictures for the house.. They are Thomas Kincade and I just love his cottage scenes..

Beside the above we drove to Michawaka, IN one day to get Reid's med's and the rest of the week we stayed local..

Some of the group had to leave on Saturday and the rest of us left on Sunday.. We don't know when we'll all be in the same area again but we all get together when we can.

Shipshewana, IN

We arrived in Shipshewana today after a short drive. We'll be here a week. Some of our RV friends were going to be in the area so we're getting to see them too.  We all wanted to go out for a late lunch early supper so we headed over to Goshen. It's a good drive but everything is closed in Shipshewana on Sunday (except for the RV park and a couple of gas stations) After supper we headed back to the RV park to visit and chill out. Today was Bob's birthday so we had cake and sang happy birthday to him.

Tomorrow is our outing to Das Essenhaus, an Amish style family restaurant, it's a "must" when we're in town..

George if  you're reading this we hope your feeling much better and gaining strength each day.. Prayers are with you.

I need to catch up on this blog

I was so busy last week I didn't get a chance to blog.. We got to Shelbyville Sunday afternoon went to our favorite place for a late lunch, El Mexico.. Now a lot of people don't like it but it's one of the best places in all our travels for the type of Mexican food we like.. If it says authentic we don't want it..

Next I showed up at the night serivce of my old Church thinking my Mother In Law was going to be there (since she said she was).. She never showed.. We're still laughing about that. At least there were several people there I hadn't seen in yrs to visit with so all was good.

Monday was a busy day. In order to see as many as I can I have to schedule tight so I visited with Mom and borrowed her car.. Heading to my Mom's for a quick visit then my sister followed me to the Chinese restaurant (we always do that when I'm in town) for an early quick lunch,  from there I pick up my SIL Mary and she rides with me to my dr apt so we get to visit on the way there and back. Next I met Reid back at his Mom with the girls so Mom can see how much Molly has grown and she has a nice supper ready for us.. Now I'm wore out and two more hectic days to go.

Tues was some of the same. I visited with Jennifer and her wonderful babies, sorry Claire and Sam I know you're not babies but your our babies.. Kate is the baby and a doll.. I met Lisa (a work buddy)  for lunch then back to my Mom's.. From there I picked up the girls and heading back to Reid's Mom cause Jennifer was meeting me there with the kids so they could play with Lady and Molly.. It was really good for Molly to play with kids, she's not been around any since we've had her and she was wonderful with them.. They all wore each other out..

Wed we tackled our storage building trying to decide what we should keep and take back to NV and what should go.. We got rid of over half of it either trashing it or giving to my sister to put in her yardsale .

We enjoyed our time in TN and thanks to Michael and Rose for letting us stay in their parking lot for three days.. (no RV parks in our home town)

On Thurs we headed to KY and overnighted (boondocked) in Bowling Green.. (read about this on Reid's blog)

We arrived in Anderson IN on Friday for a couple of nights so I've been able to get my laundry caught up.. Tomorrow is another travel day..

I enjoy updating this site and when I hear that people love to follow us it makes it more fun.. So Thanks Grace for keeping up with us on our travels and it was great seeing you again.

NTSP

We've been on the road almost two weeks and I will say it's been a pretty good two weeks.
The girls have travels good together.. Molly is a puppy so you have to expect puppy things from her and Lady is the Apha and some times she doesn't like Molly around but other times they are fine together..
Molly is traveling great and sleeping even better.. I put her in her crate (bedroom) between 9-10 and she sleeps till 6am (I do wish she would sleep later than that but she doesn't) so I get up with the girls around 6 then go back to bed.. works for us all.

Reid is healing slowly, very slowly.. it's been four weeks since his rib injury and he still has pain with it usually when he coughs or sneezes, and he gets sore at night when he's sleeping but he is on the mend..

I'm great.. loving this life.. feeling good and walking every day.

We're in TN right now at NTSP (Nathez Trace State Park) It's beautiful. I had forgotten how green and lush this area is in the summer time. We usually avoid it in June, July and Aug.. but we arrived on Wed and we'll be here till Sunday. We have a lake side site and the view is beautiful. We're going to be grilling out later today. The weather is unseasonally cool. We're enjoying mid 80's and lite breeze instead of 100's and high humidity..

Once we leave here we'll be in our home town for a few days visiting family and friends and seeing Dr's then leaving on Thursday heading north. We've heard the north might be warmer than average this summer if so we want stay there long.. that's the beauty of traveling we have no plans past July 8th and we can go where it's nicer..

Amarillo

To piggy back Reid's post....it got better I baked him some chocolate chip cookies.
We're in Amarillo today.. The wind is blowing like crazy and they have thunderstorms heading our way so add Reid's injuries on to it and it's not a great day but we're blessed so it will be ok.
Molly is getting her first taste of wind blowing again the RV and she might get to hear some thunder later so that will keep it interesting. Tomorrow we head to OK for the night.

Albuquerque

Tonight we're in Albuquerque NM.. We're just here for overnight.. This trip home is really just drive and sleep.. We've taken this route so many times we've seen about all there is too see and I saw lots today cause I didn't take a nap.. that's hard to believe cause I'm usually asleep as soon as we start moving but today I wasn't sleepy..Me and the girls did nap once we got here. I took a walk around the park while Reid sat outside with Molly and Lady.. to my big surprise when I got back to the rig Lady was the one sitting inside not Molly.. Some lady walked by with two pups and Lady went off on them.. I figured she was just trying to protect Molly.. but who knows. :) So far this trip Molly has barked and growled at everyone that's stopped to visit with us.. shes learning though.

Winslow, AZ

Hey there.. I had a few minutes so I thought I'd update everyone.. We're in Winslow AZ leaving tomorrow for Albuquerque. It's been an interesting weekend traveling with a new puppy. She'll bark over anything: a person, noise, animal.. she doesn't need a reason.. She's sleeping right now and I should wake her up and show her how it feels like she did me at 2am this morning.. but she does go back to sleep on the rare occasion that she wakes up during the night so it's not too bad. Traveling has been pretty good too. She's laying on Lady's pillow in Lady's spot which isn't making Lady happy but once they did manage to share the pillow and stay still for a while. Next walmart stop and Molly gets her own travel pillow.. For the hectic times there's also the sweet times when shes sitting in my lap or on my feet playing with a toy so she's a keeper.. Lady has been the one we've been surprised with.. she doesn't seem to like Molly too much.. maybe it's jealousy or having to share us I don't know but hopefully time will heal her cracked heart.. she's still getting plenty of love and attention so don't worry Nancy...

Molly's first day of RV'ing

We left NV this morning heading toward AZ. It's Molly's first RV trip ever and she handled it like a pro.. We really didn't know what to expect but she did fine.. she was nervous at first and sat in my lap and was shaking the first hour or so in the trip.. I held her in my lap and she could see out which she liked but she also wanted on the ground too so with a leash she checked out things as we drove.. At one point we had both Lady and Molly laying on the same pillow..
We arrived at the RV park in Kingman AZ around lunch time and afterwards Molly crashed for a 3 + hr nap.. I think she's taking to RV just fine..
Right now it's bed time. Reid's already in bed and both girls are laying at my feet..
Tonight is just an over nighter and we'll spend a couple of nights in Winslow AZ..

Leaving NV on Sat

It's time to take it on the road.. We're leaving the valley tomorrow for our summer.
Reid is doing better.. There's still some pain but much improved. Tomorrow will be Molly's
first RV experience and we're sure it will be memorable. We're making our way along I-40 for TN. Reid has his Dr apt in mid June then we're heading north for a while. Take care and I'll keep you updated.. The route we're taking is the same so we aren't going to be doing any sight seeing just crossing the country..

One more thing

May 16 has always been a special day for me/us... so I'll share....Reid and I met
May 16th 1981..This day changed his life forever...

What's going on in NV

Hey everyone.. I think this site is working again so I'll try to update you.
 Let's see where to begin..
Most of you have heard about Reid's Rib's. I guess he healing slowly.. and I do mean slowing...Rib injuries take a while to heal don't they..
I'm starting to get the RV packed up for the summer. I've been working in it this morning and do a little each day..It's been sitting for a couple of months so I'm dusting and sweeping and then I'll start to move stuff over next week. We're leaving here on Tues May 29th.
Lady and Molly had groomer apts yesterday and they sure do look pretty. Today Molly has her last round of puppy shots and I'm guess this trip to the vet is going to be ruff cause she wasn't real happy about being left at the groomers yesterday so she'll think I'm leaving her again today which I'm not. She did travel great yesterday.. she was in her crate and never cried out so maybe she's getting into this riding around.. (she better get use to it)
More later I have to get ready for the Vet.

Blog hasn't been working

I tried to post this past week and it's hasn't been saving them.. The format has changed again this spring so I must be doing something wrong.. I'm testing it now.

I'll try again

I typed on my blog the other day but it would never save. So I'll try it again today. Not really alot going on, all of our company have headed on their travels so it's just the five of us.. (counting Steph, Lady and Molly). We have the patio and border completed and all of our fix up work is now completed for the summer.

We'll be leaving in late May early June for our trip to TN for visits with family, friends and Dr. G. From there we'll decide our travel route.

Our spring has been really enjoyable.. With the exception of a hand full of days the weather has been wonderful. The girls are getting along pretty good.. Whatever Lady has Molly wants and Lady gives it to her.. She needs to be more assertive and Molly needs to learn that No means No.

I think traveling will be a "trip" with her since she's scared of the RV's and large trucks.. that first night in the RV park will be hectic and funny.. (or loud and nerveracking) depending on how you look at it.

I'm rambling so chat more later..

April is moving on like a whirlwind

It's mid April already.. Hard to believe.. Our weather this week is beautiful. It's ranging between mid 80's to mid 90's with slight breezes..The sun is out and we're using our unfinished patio alot. The guys is scheduled to start work on the border for the patio this weekend.. Then after a few carefully selected patio furiture pieces we'll get to enjoy it even more..(Patio furniture will have to wait till we get back in the fall though since we'll be leaving Pahrump at the end of May)
My girls are doing great.. Steph is working lots of hours and enjoying the paychecks
Lady is tolerating Molly but they are doing great together.
Molly is doing great with her potty training.. She takes great afternoon naps and sleeps about 7 hrs each night.. but not past 6am so Reid has morning shift with her and I have night shift.
Rita and Dan have be staying at Casa de Ruckers for a couple of weeks and are hanging around till it starts to warm up in CO we've had a blast with them here (me and Rita) and I'll miss them when they leave.. but we always have Mission right.
Friends Bob and Nancy arrived in town yesterday for a week. They are at one of the local RV parks but they will be hanging out at our place most of the week. Not sure yet what our plans are with them but I'm sure it will be fun. I wish they could stay longer but our paths crosses with them several times throught out the year so we'll see then again this summer and then again in the fall. That's what makes this lifestyle so much fun..meeting up with old friends through out the year.
We'll I heard Lady growl so Molly must be in her way or doing something Lady doesn't like so bye for now.

April is gonna be busy

First of all I'll start off by saying my Braves haven't started off too well but we all know it's how you finish that counts.  So I'm hoping they turn it on this week and erase an awful opening weekend.. I'll be their biggest supporter but I'll also admit when they are playing bad.. this weekend was bad.

Now for the fun part of our month.. Rita and Dan arrived on Saturday afternoon.. They have their rig parked beside ours in our yard and if you like dry camping I believe we could get another 3 rigs in our yard..LOL. We spent Sunday grilling out and driving around sightseeing.. They drove into Vegas today to spend the next three days with some family that was flying into town.. Dan's son, d-n-l and grandkids are visiting for a few days so they decided to met up with them while they are here.. On Thurs they will be coming back to our place for a few more days.. They are on their way to CO to visit his brother.

Nancy and Bob are arriving in town mid next week. They are making their way back to MI for the summer and they are stopping in to see us on their way home..  I know I'm going to have fun with my visits with Rita and Nancy.. I don't know anyone in town to hang out with so this makes these few weeks here in the spring fun for me.. We can sightsee, grill out and just hang out.. Today Rita and I got pedicures...

My girls will also keep me busy this month...Lady has a groomer apt and Molly has her second round of shots to get done.. We're going to have just enough time to get her three rounds of puppy shots in before we take it on the road in June.

Waiting for it

We've got sunshine, we've got warm days and cool nights, we've got basketball out of the way for a few months, so what Time is it......Baseball time....Go Braves......Opening day tomorrow and only 162 games.. The season will just fly by..  Now don't get me wrong I love Basketball season too..but once the seasons are over or actually once my teams are out I'm ready for the next sport to begin.
We've got friends headed this way. Rita and Dan left Mission yesterday and will be spending a few days in NV with us. Can't wait to see them again.
Things are going pretty good with my girls. They are having a problem learning to share. They only want what the other one already has. Molly has gotten use to the time out room this week but she's not a jumping in Lady's face like she has been so hopefully it's working.
Lady is such a dream and so easy and laid back and Molly is a hyper pup so they clash some.. It doesn't  help that Lady looks like Molly's mom and has the same name.. :)

First month with Molly

It's only been a week? Why does it seem like a month.. I'm just teasing.. We've had a very busy week here but Molly is confident that we're trainable. The week had been a busy one with all the yard work going on and it's not done yet.. The rock people are coming first thing in the morning to spread rocks.. We're expecting then around 8 and so far everyone has been arriving at the time they say they'll be here which is good. Mom's visit will wrap up on Tues.. She has to be in Vegas at 5 to catch her plane.. We've had a fun couple of weeks.. she's probably bored with us..
Lady has had the most trying week of her life.. Molly just doesn't understand that Lady is the princess.. Once she learns that everything will run smooth in her life again.
I know a lot of our Leisure friends will be on the move the next couple of weeks so you guys be safe and email us to let us know how everything is going.

Sunny 80's and beautiful

Today was just a beautiful day.. I took plenty of walks around the yard with my girls.. (Lady and Molly if you don't know who I'm talking about)
Today was the day that our patio extention was done.. The prep work was done yesterday and today they boarded it up and poured the concrete.. Everyone but me sat on the patio for hours and watched the men work.. I stayed inside with the girls to keep them out of the way and to keep them from barking at the men. (they still barked some) ( you can go on Reid's blog and see pic's of the work)
Reid's aunt and uncle drove up from the Pheonix area to see Mom for a couple of days. We've had a fun visit with them. The four of them sure had fun watching concrete dry.
Tonight we drove over to the Nugget and had supper together then we came back over to the house and Delores showed me a couple of crochet stitches that I didn't know how to do.. they are leaving in the morning to head back to Phoenix.
The gym here was suppose to be offering line dancing but the instructor didn't come back for the winter so I'm taking a Zumba Gold class.. it's for slower stiffer Americans so I should fit right in.. I went on Tues for the first time and was able to hang in for about half an hour so I'm going to try it again tomorrow morning.. it was fun and as long as you were moving it didn't really matter that you were off a step or two (at least that's what I'm telling myself)
Steph had 5 days off  so we might do some shopping in Vegas this weekend.
Lady just growled to tell me it's time for Molly to go to bed and she can have a special "Molly's in bed treat" Molly likes to try to take her treats away from her and Lady's not letting anything come betwween her and her treats.

More about Molly

Molly is a beautiful black cocker puppy with big eyes and full of energy.. She looks so tiny around Lady. Her birth mother is a buff cocker named Lady so when she ran in our house she thought Lady was her momma and wanted to nurse...Lady was really confused.. Molly jumped around Lady and played and Lady growled some but it didn't bother Molly.
We've had her two nights and she's slept really good both nights in her crate..so far so good.

No time to blog

That's not really true but it's the only reason I have for not blogging yet about Molly.. so here goes..
Lady is proud to announce that Molly has been added to our family as a playmate for her so she doesn't get lonely. So far Lady is tolerating Molly ok. They have some fun moments then some moments where Lady looks at me and says WHY....
It's been a whirlwind week here...First, Mom is visiting with us and she'll be here till next Tues. Then the carpet guys came and installed our new carpet on Sat. It was a cold, rainy and windy day for carpet laying but they got it done and did a good job.. While they were doing the carpet in the house Mom, Steph, Lady and I hung out in the RV talking and playing Yahtzee. Reid had been looking around for a cocker puppy for a couple yrs now but we just hadn't found our Molly yet.. He found her in Vegas Sat morning so I called about her but another buyer was head of us. They'd put a deposit on her but the breeder wasn't sure if they would take her or not so I was to check back later.. Anyway we called again on Sunday and the first buyer decided not to get her (he was getting it for his son and they just decided he was too young for that responsiblity,, so sorry kid you lose) so we headed into town to get her.. That's when we went throught the mountain pass and actually got snow on my car...can you believe Reid drove through snow instead of turning around and going back.
So now with Molly in the crate on the back seat of my car we head back to our new house with our new carpet and new furniture with a new 10 week old puppy to train...Are we nuts...probably...or just puppy lovers.
Oh yeah I forgot to mention that during all this I've had my worse allergy attack in 5 yrs... I'm not sure whats triggered it, could be a combination of things but I hope it's over soon.
Believe it or not both puppies are sleeping and I was able to finish this blog before either one needed to go out.

Back on line

Thanks to my genius husband I'm back on my blog. Too bad eveyone missed my last two entries they were great.
Today it's cool, windy and it's calling for rain, we'll see if it happens. There's a cold front moving in from CA and the mountains are expecting up to a foot of snow.. We want see any here thankfully. But it's pretty to look at from a distance.
We are all sitting around the family room with only the recliners in the room waiting for the carpet guys to get here and lay the carpet.. They should be here by 11 and it's getting close to 11 so they better show.
Mom is here and has been since Tues. We're enjoying our visit with her.

NV winds vs TX winds

We'll we have a winner.. I didn't believe it but NV wind was worse today than any TX wind we've had.. The wind blew around 30 MPR all day with gusts over 50 at times. There was so much blowing sand and dirt that you couldn't see the mountains today.. Reid took it in stride though because he had the garage. He was able to get the grill assembled so we can us it on Sunday..
Once the guy is done with the flooring (probably Thur but could be tomorrow) I'll be able to get started vac and dusting.. it's super dusty in the house right now but that's cause the doors have been open with people going in and out for various reasons.
We're probably going into town (Vegas) Fri to pick out carpet and get it ordered.. we don't have any idea when they will be able to work on it but we hope it's soon.

Pahrump for a few weeks

OK we're here.. We arrived yesterday and have been busy getting stuff out of the RV. Getting it organized has been the hardest cause once I put it somewhere I have to remember where I put it.
Today we got started on the flooring.. The guy doing the work was here by 9 and he was still here at 6:00 but he wanted to finish the one bedroom. Tomorrow we'll start on Steph's room and then the dining room will be last. Reid helped with the flooring while I went grocery shopping.. I let myself run out of so much stuff that I needed to stock up again. (Reid's wanting some home cooked meals this week)
Either Wed or Thurs we'll drive into Vegas and get our carpet ordered. We're hoping they can get started on that soon but that might take a few weeks to get it done if they are backlogged. We're going to be here till sometime in June but I'll keep you posted on what we're doing and whose stopping by.. We're expecting a fun spring with several visitors.

Apache Junction, AZ

We arrived in Apache Junction around noon yesterday. We like to avoid the Phoenix area and we're close to Nancy and Bob here. We're at the KOA again and it's really full. We use the KOA cause till now we haven't been "old enough" to use the 55+ parks and Reid's opinion is "they didn't want our money before I was 55 they can't have it now".
Reid and his sayings.. he's got one for just about everything, LOL.
Bob and Nancy came over about 3 yesterday with a gift for Lady.. They keep her in toys.. Lady kept us entertained while we waited on the steaks to cook. The we sat around the heater and talked till about 7:30 and since we made plans to go out early today we called it a night.
Today we're heading to the Flea Market. When we were here in Sept we found some pictures in one of the booths that we really liked and we're hoping to find a couple for the walls at the house. After that we're going to try Nando's Mexican Cafe.. Nancy and Bob like it so we want to check it out too. I've told Reid before that we should do restaurants reviews cause we love to eat out and we always have opinions.

Continuing our trip

Reid is outside getting stuff ready to travel, no wait, I see he's talking to someone and pointing to the car...my car. Yes, it gets a lot of attention..but usually not when I'm in it.. what's up with that..
We're heading to Apache Junction, AZ for a couple of nights.. Bob and Nancy are in Mesa and we have plans to get with them this afternoon. It should be a great day for grilling out and visiting..Tomorrow they are taking us to try another Mexican restaurant.. We're always looking for good Mexican food.
We've had a fun time in Tucson and the weather has been wonderful. I love seeing a smile on Reid's face (for those whose never see him smile visit us in Pahrump)
The weather has been wonderful all week even the day that was suppose to be windy and cool didn't get as bad as forecasted.
On Sunday we'll be getting back to the house. Our neighbor, the fix it guy has installed our new patio door and put the concrete side walk in leading from the RV to the patio so we already have improvements done and we're not even home yet. I'm glad the side walk is done it was just uneven rocks before and that was an accident waiting to happen for me..
We have about 9 days to get the bedroom flooring done before Mom arrives for her two week visit..She and I are already making plans for her two weeks.

Foreigner concert

Thursday night was our last night in Tucson. We stayed in town for the Foreigner concert and it didn't disappoint.. Reid is the big fan but after 30yrs of being married to him I knew a few of their songs and just to make sure Reid kept the radio in the car on their hits for the last two weeks. It was a fun night. Most of the crowd was Reid's age so they grew up listening to them..There were some young people there too but the boomers out numbered them.

A little bit of Mission in Tucson?

It hasn't happenend yet but there's a cool front moving our way and we're hearing that tomorrow could be a windy day with gust over 30...Could tomorrow feel like a day in Mision we'll find out.
Till that happens we'll enjoy the weather today..Sunny with a breeze and 75 degrees. I have my windows open and it's so comfortable inside.
We haven't done much this weekend.. Reid's enjoyed watching the golf matches and I've watches some of them but mostly I've been reading and crocheting.. I haven't had a schedule to follow so I've walked when I've wanted to.. got a little biking in and caught up on some of my tv shows that I've had taped..It's been a good week to slow down and rest before we hit Pahrump next weekend and we start tearing out carpet and laying flooring (I'm not implying that I'll be doing the work I just wont be able to sleep through the work being done). I'll be busy getting Lady to the groomers, getting some grocery shopping done, get back into my routine at the gym which also has a line dance class I want to check out, get the guest bedroom ready for Mom's visit in a couple of weeks..I have plenty of things to do to keep me busy and not bored.. the only thing missing will be my Leisure friends to hang out with but in April we should start seeing a few friends coming through the area on their way to their summer plans.. can't wait..

Tucson

We arrived in Tucson on Tues and got all set up at Lazy Days which use to be Beaudry's. We checked out camping world and then the restaurant here at the park since we didn't want to go out.
On Wed we headed out to watch some of the golf tournament.. Let me say that it's for the young.. We've been to other courses and this was the most challenging one so far.. It was pretty much all up hill and we all know I haven't done much walking this winter with my fatigue issues and my knee problems.. this day was a real challenge.. There were only a couple of grandstands for sitting and they were really full and the course was really spread out so it involved walking a mile up hill this way or that so my knee wasn't kind.. my energy level stayed up and I was glad for that (the med's are working) but my poor knee and leg was in a lot of pain by the time we got back to the rv.. It ached and hurt for the rest of the night.. it's much better today though.
We have a few other things we want to check out around this town so we'll find plenty of things to keep us busy
I can't finish my post without telling you that it was 78 and sunny yesterday with 10% humidity and I got a little sun on my face and arms.. it was just a beautiful day.
***Steph started her long awaited job yesterday... she's got to get back in the habit of working again.

Las Cruces, NM

I thought I blogged this part of the trip already but I guess I either didn't or I didn't save it so here goes.
We arrived in Las Cruces on Sunday afternoon. The trip from Fort Stockton to here was a good one. Clear non rainy skies greeted us all the way.. Once arriving we got set up and we knew we were going to LaPosta for lunch so we decided to call ahead for reservations and were we glad we did. When we walked into the resturant there we're people waiting for a table.. We heard some had waited two hours and others weren't going to wait so they were leaving.. But calling ahead was the thing to do cause at 2:35 they seated us (our reservations were for 2:30) our table even had a reserved for Debbie sign on it. Too cool.
The food was as good as we remembered it. So yummy..
On Monday we made a walmart trip and then tried another Mexican place. What I ordered was really good but Reid's wasn't as good as LaPosta. We left on Tues morning and headed to Tucson.
More later on that we're on our way to the golf tournament now.

Rainy days

After we got set up last night we went out for supper with some friends that we met at one of the Challenger events we've been to. They are a nice couple of kids (they are Steph's age) but they don't mind hanging out with us old folks.. Challenger fans come in all ages..They took us to a burger joint called Armadillo's.. And a joint it was but the food was really good and so was the service, the atmosphere was great too with music playing and everyone having a good time..I like those kinds of places.. The parking lot was overflowing with people waiting to park but we got right in with a table.. The others had various types of burgers and I had a grilled chicken sandwich which was supersized and tasty.
Last night was stormy which was ok for me I got to hear the rain on the rooftop all night which I enjoyed but kept Reid awake.. (different strokes)
Driving through San Antonio this morning was interesting.. The traffic was light for the most part but it was raining pretty hard with thunder and lightening. It took an hour to get through the city and we starting driving out of the heavy stuff.. it still rained off and on till we got near Ft Stockton.
This is where we stopped for the night and they've had very little rain here. We're in a park on a little hill so we have a nice panaramic view. It's been cool here with a slight breeze but at least we've seen the sun.. Reid said he'd trade off temps for some sun and he's gotten that today.
Tomorrow it's off to NM

San Antonio

We arrived in SA a little while ago. It did rain most of the way here.. The drive here was pretty easy, no wind just rain. We're only going to be here over night which is a good thing cause our site came with it's own pond.. (from so much rain, get it)
It was really sad leaving Leisure this morning.. I said a few more good byes while Reid was getting the car hooked up. I'm going to miss the rest of the season activities which are going strong but I'm going to be doing other fun things in AZ so it's a wash I guess. We have several friends and family members coming to visit starting in Mar with Mom's visit then a few friends scattered througout April and Danny's visit in May..Plenty to keep me busy and having fun.

Travel Day Friday

Puppy Treats are all back in the RV and the golf cart is tucked inside the casita so it's time to get on the road. It's been a different winter here and I'm going to miss my friends like crazy but some of them we'll be seeing again through out the year. I do enjoy our time here cause of our friends here at the park and the ones that drop in throughout the winter. We enjoying going out to eat with them and having them over.. but because of the weather we didn't do as much cooking out and getting together as we usually do but hey, there's always next winter.
We'll probably be driving in rain the next couple of days (if you can believe the weather forecasters) but hopefully by the time we're in NM we'll see some sunny skies.. (maybe, maybe not)
I'll post often as we take out time getting to NV.

Getting Ready

All I've been doing is getting stuff ready to go.. I have to decide what needs to stay here and what goes with me..It was a good week to pack since it was cool and drizzly most days.. Some people down here like this weather but it's not for me..now don't get me wrong I do love a good rain shower.. I love to sleep at night with rain hitting the rooftop. But it's not my idea of a good time when it drizzles for days on end and it's cool, by cool I'm talking 40's-50's. I'm in the valley for 70's and 80's.
I told all our friends that once we get out of town the weathers gonna get better it always does. They will be enjoying sunny 80's soon. LOL
I'm feeling a lot better.. I've been taking my meds for a couple of weeks now my energy level is getting better each day.
Tomorrow will be errands day while the carpet cleaner guys are working in the rv.. I hope the weather is nice this week so I can get out and about and say my goodbyes till next fall.

Happy Birthday Reid

Happy Happy Birthday to Reid. He can now order off the back page of the menu at most restaurants. LOL We're going to celebrate with a road trip in the Challenger and have BBQ and this little restaurant along our drive. Should be a fun day. I love birthdays and it doesn't matter whose having them. This is probably the last time today I'll be "allowed" to mention his.

I guess I should update

Lets see. what to say.. I stay busy around the park. Sometimes too busy.. I seem to let myself run down while we're in the valley.. Most of my volunteer projects have ended so that will take some stuff off my plate. I'll be spending then next several days getting my spring cleaning done.. We're heading out of the valley in Feb so I have to do my "if we haven't used it in 6 months we don't need it cleaning" usually it's Reid's stuff that I get rid off. Ha.
Jan has been a pretty ok month.. the temps have been nice so when we've endured cloudy days it's not been cold.. Today it's sunny and warm so that's nice. We're having a Chili and Darts event this afternoon with 6 other couples.. We usually play darts over at Larry's but since their casita is still being built we decided to get together tonight and play here.. it's finally warming up in the evening enough to sit out at night and visit. shhhhhhh...it's also code for Reid's birthday get together.......you know how he likes partys..He will enjoy beating us all at darts...
Tomorrow we're taking a drive up to Alice to met up with some friends from San Antonio..they are in our Challenger club.. There's a great BBQ place in Alice so it's a good meeting point.
That's it for this week..I'll try to post again next week..

Happy New Year

I hope 2012 is everything everyone wants it to be.
We ended 2011 very quietly.. I've been sick for 2 weeks now and all they've found out is I'm anemic so I'm really super tired all day long with no energy to do anything or get anything done.. So I didn't feel like going to the dance last night.. Haven't missed one of those in 4 years.. I hope it went well. I didn't see many people from the park today I guess they stayed out too late last night and slept in today.. Rita did stop by to see how I was feeling but she's the only one I saw all day. It was a cloudy morning then it rained for a short time and stayed dready after that.. But I did what I've been doing best and slept all day.. I'm going back to the Dr on Tues to find out if there's anything I can get for this tireness I'm feeling..
Last week was the best three or four days we've had here in a row for the past 2 months. It was nice, warm, sunny and no wind and I didn't feel like being outside to enjoy it what a downer.
We are going to be here another 6 weeks before heading out.. that will still be four months in the valley and frankly that's long enough to be sitting in one place. We arrived mid Oct so by mid Feb I'll be ready to go.. We'll take about three weeks getting back to NV where we'll hang out for a couple of months before we head south again. I don't like to stay in any one place too long..
I'll try to do better with my updates this month. I know it's going to be a busy month. I myself am planning the Ladies Birthday luncheon for later in the month and we have the Ropa style show this month and a dance this weekend so I gotta start feeling better soon.
