Stephanie's doing great since surgery July 28

Steph had her knee surgery on Friday and came home the same day. She's been doing great. I stayed at her place for several nights but left her on her own last night. It's hard for her to go anywhere and do anything so she's been sitting around the apt and I'm running her errands..she loves to have me wait on her..I've fixed some of her favorite meals and she's already requested what type of birthday cake she wants next Monday.
Reid had the RV to himself over the weekend. Lady and I stayed with Steph. By Sunday Lady wanted to go home. Reid came over for lunch and when he left Lady laid by the door for hours waiting for him to come back. By bedtime she wants to leave.. She'd go to the door and then look back at me to follow. She was so happy yesterday when I took her home.
Reid decided to go golf today. It's hot and the humidity is starting to rise but so far the last week has been very nice.
Steph's follow up is Aug 6th so we'll know after that when we're leaving and where we're heading.

Visiting with Stephanie July 21

I'm so glad we got here early. I've had a blast spending time with Stephanie this week. We know after Friday she's gonna be out of it for several days.
Yesterday Stephanie and I drove around so I could find my way to her apt..tomorrow we're going to the hospital so I can find it..these are things I need to know...and with my sense of direction I'll need Jill.
We found a Chinese restaurant today and tried it. It was very good. I'd been craving Chinese for a while so Steph and I went..Reid decided to run other errands (he didn't want Chinese)
Her pre op is tomorrow and her surgery is sometime on Friday we still don't have a time on it yet. I expect it to be early but she's staying over night so I guess it could be anytime. She's actually have bone grafting done. Everything I've read says recovery can be from 2 weeks to 2 months depending on the damage to her knee.

Arriving in Warner Robins GA July 19th

We arrived in Warner Robins, GA on Sunday. Things didn't go smoothly at first. The rv park's office was closed..so we tried to find a site..Some one saw Reid looking at a site in a "reserve section" so he came over to tell him it was for overnight only and if we were staying longer we'd have to move in the morning. So we found another site but after sitting up we decided it wouldn't work for long term cause it had the dreaded all day sun and no internet. We decided to stay till the office opened on Monday and talk to the office about another site that we found that would work. but per the owner all the sites in the open area with shade were reserved for overnight use..and monthly was the area that we were already in. So we told him thanks but no thanks we'd find anther park that would have a site that would work and we'd spend our money there. So now we're at another park. This office is closed too.. So we find a site and start setting up..It's facing the right direction for afternoon shade so that's good. We got the tv working and the internet so we're thinking this is great...then Reid opens the power box and it's 30 amp..we never expected 30 amp in South GA. What to do, what to do...The office finally opens and Reid went to asked the owner about 50 amp but she didn't have anymore. We'll we decide to tought it out..We'll just use the air and not worry about using the stove..I'll be spending alot of next week at Stephs, I can cook and do laundry at her place. So it's decided, we stay..Later Monday night the owner came over and told us that someone was scheduled to leave on Thurs and they have a 50 amp site so we're hoping they do leave cause we can move over to it.
When we arrived here weather was great. Highs in the mid 80's with low humidity. Nice. Today was warmer, it reach 90. Still it's usually hotter here in July.

packed up and heading south...July 18

We packed up and left Michigan on Friday morning. The trip to Stephanies is about 800 miles. We decided to take I-75 down through Ohio. The traffic was pretty heavy. We don't usually travel on Friday but we wanted to go through Atlanta on Sunday. We stopped in a little town called Renfro Valley, Kentucky on Friday night. It was a nice RV park and it appeared the town was a tourist trap..There was a Red barn across the street and it had local talent performing most nights in the summer with some country artist playing occasionally. There was various stores and shops.. The RV park was laid out nicely. We headed out again on Saturday morning. We drove the rest of the way through KY and TN today. I wish we could have seen Danny but we knew he wouldn't have time to see us on this trip through. He was in classes all day. Yes on a Saturday. He should be finished with his school next spring. Yeah for him.
We got as far as north Georgia today. We'd been driving for about 5 hrs by then and we're in no rush so we decided to stop. Steph isn't expecting us yet and she was sleeping today anyway. (it's her first day off after a 6 day rotation so she catches up on her sleep her first day off). We're at Harvest Moon Park tonight. it's pretty nice too. It's got a sister park in AL that we'd stayed at before but we didn't know that till me got here.
Tomorrow we'll go the rest of the way (about 3 hrs) Reid wants to find a good site since we don't know how long we'll be here. A good site will have afternoon shade and we'll be able to get tv and internet..
The weather is mild here which is unusual for July. The temps today was mid 80 with low humidity. It was nice...

last week in Michigan for this summer july 15

We left Hillman MI (near Alpena) on Monday. Our week there went well but it was cool. (have you heard that before) After we arrived and got set up Phyllis called and we met them at Boltons for a late lunch/early supper. Phyllis' aunt came and so did Jim and Jan (we met them in TX last winter) On Wed we spent the afternoon at Phyllis but it was too cool for a boat ride so we just talked and grilled out. On Thurs it was the golf outing (it was funny to watch me try to golf)Friday was the fish fry, So you can see we had a fun week. We left on Monday and came back to WW for a week. We found out last week that Stephanie was going to have her second knee surgery on July 24. So we're going to head back south and help her for a few weeks. I hope this surgery fixes her problem.
The park here is pretty empty which is surprising, it's usually jammed for the summer. It will get busy again for the weekend. We had lunch today with Nancy and Bob, They are going to FL for the winter and we probally want see them again till we head back up north next July. They will be leaving the park tomorrow for their out weeks. Now we have to decide when to leave. Reid has heard it's going to cool down again and or rain so he's trying to decide if we want to leave before the rain hits or sit it out with the lows getting in the high 40's at night. I'll let you know.

I did it....golf July 9th

I did it...finally, I got on the golf course as a player...Reid had decided to wait till we got back to TX to put me on a course cause all the courses have been pretty crowded but we're staying on a course here at Thunder Bay RV resort and it's not super busy. There's this couple parked next to us, and they both play. Their names are Jan and John so we know two couples now that's Jan and John. Jan hasn't played long so the four of us went out today. Yes, I did have fun. Now about the 13 hole I was getting tired and I did keep my score under 200 so I felt it was a good outing. I'm probally going to be sore tomorrow.
I must tell everyone that the weather today was beautiful. I always mention the cold days so I have to mention the warm ones too. the high today was 74 and sunny. It was great.
We're suspose to see Phyllis and Larry sometime tomorrow after a walmart run.

A week with Phyllis and Larry July 7th

We finished up our two weeks in waldenwoods with a cookout on Saturday night. Nancy and Bob grilled out and their son Jason was there with his two kids. Connor and Jillian. After supper we hosted the camp fire and fireworks show. Actually we used our lot for the fire cause we had more room and the park put on the fireworks we just sat aroung the campfire watching the show. Lady usually barks and has a fit when fireworks go off so I usually put her inside but once these started shooting off she was hooked. she would cock her head different directions looking at them and then she sat down and stayed there for the entire show. She would growl at them every once in a while. I think she thought they were getting a little too close to her. Some more friends of Jasons showed up with their three boys and we all stayed up (including Reid) till after midnight. Can you believe we had 5 kids over and Reid stayed up. They were all good and actually the kids konked out before the adults did. We spend Sunday getting stuff ready to pack up.
We left for our week out of WW on Monday morning. We headed north..Now we're already freezing so why go farther north you ask.. only one reason..to see friends. Phyllis and Larry live here and we said we were coming up. (we're rethinking that our trip here next year will probally be in Aug)We arrived about 2ish and while Reid was checking in I was watching some ladies go in and out of the office and one thing caught my attention...they were all wearing sweaters...not a good sign for July is it. I have put away my shorts for the week and pulled out my long pants and sweatshirts. Phyllis called right after we got set up so we went to visit with them for a while. We haven't seen them since late Feb. I think they are coming over tonight but not sure what we can do cause it too cold to sit outside.
We're staying at Thunder Bay RV park and it's very nice. It's a small park with only 23 sites and only about 7 people rv'ing right now. (Reid said that's because smart rv'ers are in the south right now staying warm) There's a golf course across the street from us (we're by the 3rd hole) Reid said it's too cold for him to golf today. They have an inn here and also a bar and grill. Looks like everything we would need for a weeks stay. The closest town was Hillman and it didn't appear to have a restaurant it was so small maybe there's more to it we didn't see. Oh the sun just popped out...but Reid said don't get use to it it's not going to stay long.
I guess that's all for now..I'll let everyone know if we break 60 anytime soon.

I guess summer has been and gone july 2

After some hot Tennessee like days last week it's been either cold, cloudy, rainy, and windy or a combination of the above. The last four days have been awful. I can take a lot and I don't like to complain too much about it but when I'm wearing sweatshirts in June and July it's getting to the point to rethink our summer time plans. I/We like our summers to be in the 70 and 80 range and we thought we'd get that in MI. This is not our first summer in MI so what's up with the weather this year. I'm fixing to take my walk so I'll need a sweatshirt with a hood just to go enjoy it. South Texas is looking pretty good at 100 degrees right now. (LOL)
Monday we decided not to stay inside all day and watch more tv so we took a road trip just to get out and do something. Reid use to live (a long long time ago) in Bad Axe, MI so we drove there and back. There really wasn't much to see and it was raining but it was a drive so it was fun. We found the street they lived on but he couldn't pinpoint the house (hey it's been 37 years) We drove to Port Austin which is where his dad worked while they lived here. the base is no longer there but we saw a tower and the dorms were still there and being used by a Bible College. Port Austin had 3 restaurants. Two were closed and the one that was opened only had parking on the street which was full and the closest parking lot was a couple blocks over and with the wind and rain we decided to head back to Flint and stopped at Famous Dave's for supper.
No other plans for the rest of the week. Monday we're heading to Alpena. Our friends, Phyllis and Larry live there. she's already emailed me that we've already missed their summer. They winter in Mission too that's how we met them. We haven't seen them since Feb so it will be fun to see them again.
I think this weekend might be nice and warmer, we'll just have to wait and see. Reid is freezing I think the heat is fixing to be turned on.
